Community Activities

As part of K of C Council 6066's commitment to the betterment of our local community, we perform a number of activities. These activities are open to everyone in the local community, regardless of their faith or beliefs. They are designed to foster a spirit of harmony and help promote the message of Jesus Christ and create constructive awareness for the Catholic Church.

Feast of Our Lady of Guadalupe - December 12, 2009

Religious Appreciation Dinner

The Council is proud to sponsor the 2009 St. Mel Religious Appreciation Dinner, which will take place in early November in the Parish Hall. The dinner will include entertainment, and an excellent menu featuring a choice of meats.

All Tickets will be sold in advance after all weekend Masses starting in mid-October. Prices are preliminarily set at $15.00 for adults (18 and over), $5.00 for Children or $40.00 for the entire family, subject to change. Ticket will not be sold on the door, so don't delay and get your ticket and table assignment prior to the event.

All Profits from the dinner will directly benefit the three Priests and Two Sisters that serve St. Mel Parish. Please come, be fed, be entertained and show your appreciation for our St. Mel Religious.

Soccer Challenge

Soccer Challenge One of the activities run by Council 6066 is the annual Knights of Columbus Soccer Challenge. It's free and open to all boys and girls aged between 10 and 14 who live in Fair Oaks and the surrounding area, regardless of religious affiliation.

The Soccer Challenge tests kids' shooting accuracy from the penalty spot. Points are awarded depending on the area of the goal in which the shot is delivered. Top corners earn 20 points, bottom corners earn 10, and a shot placed elsewhere in the goal is worth 5. The boy or girl of each age with the highest score wins, and can go on to compete at the District level where applicable.

Check back soon for more details on this year's event.

Oktoberfest

The Council's first ever Oktoberfest took place in 2008, and was a big hit, with a fantastic family-friendly atmosphere, wonderful food, great beer, and fun entertainment.

Due to popular demand, the council will be holding another Oktoberfest in October 2009! As always, the proceeds will go to worthwhile charities. You don't need any German ancestry required to participate, so come on over for an evening of family fun, German beer and food, traditional music, and entertaining contests. Admission will be $10 for adults, subject to change.

Look out for advanced ticket sales, or contact the Community Director to book your place or find out about how you can help. Come join the fun at one of the parish's banner events!
